I enjoyed this book on so many levels! This book is not just about a rare, obscenely expensive bottle of wine but also about running a new restaurant in NYC (UGH). It also follows the career of a waiters struggle trying to get cast in a Broadway show and gives you a great insight into his inner conflicts.As a wine lover you can't help but be mesmerized by the plot from the history of the bottle, the purchase through auction which has it's twists and the unbelievable journey to consume the great bottle. The characters are substantial & well developed. There's romance in the air but is it for the opposite sex or is it really for a bottle of wine that the main character has dreamed of acquiring his entire life? I couldn't put this book down. Don't pass this book up!

A funny feel good read. Some obvious life lessons told in a non preachy way. I always enjoy reading about and drinking wine.
if you liked Sideways, you'll like this, For a first book this is very well written and a good read. If you are a wine novice or a wind snob you are going to find something you will enjoy in the book. Looking forward Lessner's next book! Nice job Joanne!
I enjoyed reading this book. The author had you feeling the characters different moods. Also enjoyed learning about the wine history & bouquets.
This book has great "legs", and a "bouquet" that will put a smile on your face. Plenty of substance and characters that leave you feeling good. As a wine lover myself, this book did not disappoint me at all. I was pleased to read about some grape varietals that I had not heard of before, and am now anxious to try. What a great find!
This book had a clever plot and charming characters--and some who were not-so-charming, but still well-developed. I was fascinated by the premise of the book and surprised by the outcomes. There were enough plot twists to keep me interested, and enough sweet moments to qualify it as a book for any gender, and for young adults as well as more seasoned readers.
This wonderful novel swirls effortlessly between the worlds of fine wine collectors, the NYC theater, historic vineyards in NY State and the Manhattan restaurant industry. The writing is deft, fast-paced and entertaining, the large cast of characters well-written and amusing. The story will grab you and pull you along until its unexpected but very satisfying conclusion. Hard to believe this is a first novel - I hope the author writes more books, and quickly! Pandora's Bottle is one of the few selections everyone in my book club has absolutely loved, and we are a very diverse group. For readers living in NYC, it will ring completely true. For readers elsewhere, it's like a trip to New York with an unbelievably well-informed insider as your guide. Like a good bottle of wine, this book will warm and inspire you with a renewed zest for living. Don't wait for a special occasion, indulge yourself and uncork it today. BTW, there's now a version Pandora's Bottle.
I enjoyed the way the story showed how one bottle of wine impacted so many people so differently. Maybe I read this wrong, but the author made it seem as if there were no wineries east of the hudson river, which is not the case. But that was my only criticism, and unless you are from the area, you wouldn't notice it as an error. All in all, a well written story.
